Metsovo, the jewel of Epirus is a mountain town, built on the ruins of the ancient city Tymfi at an altitude of 1,160m. A traditional settlement, it is located at the eastern end of the prefecture on the northern slopes, between the mountains of the largest mountain range in Greece, Pindos.

The folk art museum is located very close to the center of Metsovo and hosts a particularly large number of old objects that chronicle Greek folk art in a unique way as well as the specificity of the region and the influence of the Turkish occupation.

Monastery of Agios Nikolaos


The Monastery of Agios Nikolaos, built in the southwest of Metsovo, near the bank of the Metsovitikos river, was one of the most important monasteries in the region. Its current form is due to the restoration work carried out around 1960, by the Baron Michael Tosista Foundation.

Averofian Garden


The main street of Metsovo Square leads to the Averofian Garden. It is a beautiful park filled with trees and plants that make up the entire flora of Pindos. Inside, very well preserved, is the restored chapel of Agios Georgios.

The Tsanaka Folklore Museum is housed in the old stone mansion of the Veneti family in the area of Agios Georgios and is a museum of Metsovite - Vlach art of Metsovo.
